Jet Thomas Blasts two run bomb in the Bottom of the 7th to defeat Coffee County

Early in the game we had a hard time finding the strike zone and gave up five runs in the first 2 innings. We have been much better in the last 5 or 6 games limiting the amount of walks, but tonight we fell back into a couple of bad habits early. We walked too many early then made a few mental mistakes and found ourselves down 6 runs before we knew it.

Jet Thomas led off the game with a double and Will Meadows executed a great bunt to move him to third with 1 out. After a fly out and a ground ball he was stranded at 3rd to end the first.
We plated 1 run in the 2nd. Ryder Rouse reached base on a walk and stole second then advanced to third when the catcher threw the ball wide of the bag at 2nd. Tristan Guess came through for us with a sac fly to center to bring him home. 5-1 Coffee
Taylor Meadows came into pitch for us in the 3rd and walked the leadoff man who came around to score but he threw great after settling down. He pitched 3 innings only allowing that one run.
Jett Thomas started the 3rd with another leadoff double, Will Meadows followed him and was hit by a pitch. Zach Martin singled to Load the bases.
Austin Lairsy put a ball in play with 2 strikes to score jet and move the other guys over. Taylor Meadows followed him with a walk. Ryder Rouse came up next and hit a hard ground ball to 3rd. Zack Martin did a great job not running into the tag at third instead he back tracked to 2nd and forced the 3rd baseman to chase him giving Will Meadows time to score before he was tagged out. 6-3 Coffee.
Taylor kept them off the board in the 4th. Charles King Led off the bottom of the inning with a single and was brought around to score latter in the inning on a single by Zach Martin. 6-4 Coffee.
Taylor again put a zero up on the board in the top of the 5th allowing one base runner before retiring the side. Ryder Rouse beat out an infield hit on a high chopper to the third baseman then stole a base and ended up scoring on a single by Tristan Guess. 6-5 Coffee.
Ryder Rouse came in to pitch the 6th and allowed one base runner before getting 2 more outs and keeping Coffee off the board. Will Meadows got a single and then stole 2nd and eventually made it to 3rd on a single by Zach Martin. Zack Martin stole 2nd and Austin Lairsy walked bringing up Ryder Rouse. Ryder hit a ground ball to 2nd base but he got a great jump and ended up being safe at first with a head first slide.
This was a huge play for us really swinging the momentum our way, if Ryder would have jogged down the line the second baseman makes that play in my mind, but he came out of the box full speed and put pressure on the 2nd baseman and he had trouble getting the ball cleanly to the 1st baseman. So not only was Ryder safe at 1st but it allowed Will Meadows to come home tying the ball game up 6-6 going into the 7th.

Coffee led off the 7th inning with a double, Ryder struckout the next batter before another hit scored him. He settled down and retired the side. 7-6 Coffee.
Hayden Blackburn led off the 7th with a huge 2 Strike hit to get the tying run on base. Jet Thomas came up later in the inning with Daniel Mathis who was entered for Blackburn still at 1st. Jet took the first pitch for a ball then ended the game with one swing when he parked the next pitch over the left field wall for a game winning walk off 2 run home run.
Coach Shealy and I have been telling the team all year how important it is to keep playing and that it says more about you when you play good in close games than when you play well when you are beating a team soundly. I was extremely proud of the way we battled after going down big early when we could have just rolled over. Everyone will remember Jet's homerun to win it but we had a lot of plays like Ryder's and Zach's that put us in that position. The whole team played really well to get back in it.
Jett was 3 for 5 2 doubles and a homerun
Will Meadows was 1 for 1 with 2hbp's a sacrifice and 2 runs scored
Zach Martin was 3 for 4
Austin Lairsy had an Rbi
Ryder Rouse scored 2 runs and stole 2 bases
Tristan Guess had 2 Rbi
Hayden Blackburn had 2 hits
Charles King and Daniel Mathis both scored runs.
