Gators Sweep Pierce on Saturday

Ware County Gators Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Pierce County

 

Ware snatched the lead late in the game in an 8-6 victory over Pierce County on Saturday. The game was tied at six with the Gators batting in the top of the fifth when Jacob Hendrix singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

There was plenty of action on the base paths as Ware collected nine hits and Pierce County had 11.

Pierce County took an early lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Pierce County.

Derrin Cox earned the win for the Gators. He allowed six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking zero. Victor Steedley threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen and got the Gators out of a jam.

Cody Wiliiams took the loss for Pierce County. He lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while striking out eight.

Acy Paulk started the game for Ware. He surrendered four runs on five hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.

Ware totaled nine hits. Coleman TannerHendrix, and Jake Manders each had multiple hits for Ware. MandersHendrix, and Tanner all had two hits to lead the Gators. Coleman Tanner belted a solo homerun in his first at bat on Saturday

The win was the second of the year over the Bears. Ware won the first game at home scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to collect the win.

JV RESULTS:

 

Two Ware County Gators JV Pitchers Combine To Shutout Pierce County

 

The Ware County JV baseball team defeated Pierce County 6-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Clay Bennett induced a groundout from #5 to finish off the game.

The Gators pulled off the big victory without ever scoring many runs in an inning. The most they scored was two in the third.

Ware got on the board in the first inning when Bryson Wheeler grounded out, scoring one run.

A single by #13 in the third inning was a positive for Pierce County.

Noah Hall got the win for the Gators. He went five and a third innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out seven. Clay Bennett threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

#2 took the loss for Pierce County. He went four innings, allowing five runs on four hits and walking zero.

Jett Justice went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Ware in hits.

#13 led Pierce County with one hit in one at bats.
