Gators Ease Past Glynn, 26-6

 The Ware County Gators defeated the Glynn Academy Red Terrors 26-6 Friday night in a Homecoming game that was not near as close as the score. The Gators completely dominated the game from the opening kick-off till the end holding the Glynn offense to just 69 yards of total offense. The Red Terrors were 0-10 on third down conversions while the defense pilled up an amazing 12 tackles for a loss.

 Offensively, the Gators put together three consecutive scoring drives and carried a 19-0 lead into the half. Freshman quarterback Thomas Castellanos tossed a 32 yard touchdown to Chris Jones with 5:49 left in the first quarter to take the early lead. Robert Jacobs point after made the score 7-0. Following great defensive play, the Gators mounted a 8 play 69 yard drive with Castellanos scoring on an 11 yard keeper. The point after was no good and the Gators led 13-0. On the last play of the first quarter, Ladedric Castellanos pounced on a Glynn Academy fumble on the 49 yard line and the Gators would put together their third straight scoring drive covering 49 yards in 5 plays with Thomas Castellanos racing 14 yards for the score to put the Gators on top 19-0 at the half.

Following a short punt in the third quarter, the Red Terrors scored their only points of the night on a five play 45 yard drive to trim the lead to 19-6. The Gators blocked the extra point and wasted little time answering the bell as O'Hara raced 80 yards on the ensuing play from scrimmage to score. Jacobs point after made the final score 26-6.

Castellanos finished the night going 12/17, 183 yards and scored 2 TD's. Jeremiah O'Hara had a big offensive night rushing for 83 yards on just three carries and caught 9 balls for another 80 yards. Dream Gainer rushed 22 times for 87 yards and had one catch for another 14. Senior Chris Jones had two catches for 69 yards and a score as the Gators had 368 yards of total offense on the night.

At halftime, Senior Tyra Howard was crowned the 2018 Ware County Homecoming Queen while T.J. Adams was named Homecoming King by the Ware County Student Body.

Ware County will travel to Valdosta Friday night to take on Lowndes High who defeated crosstown rival Valdosta 73-35 last week. We will have a limited number of advance tickets that can be purchased at the high school ticktet office Tuesday-Thursday from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm and again on Friday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am.
