The Ware County Gators take the road this Friday night as they will play long time rival Coffee High School. Coffee High and Ware have met 46 times since 1970 with Coffee holding an edge on the Gators with 27 wins against 19 losses. But since 1999 the two team have met 18 times and the Gators have won 12 of those contests. Most of the last 18 games have been decided by a touchdown or less. Friday nights game should be another border war classic.
Ware is 1-1 on the season while the Trojans have gotten off to a 2-0 start. Ware is coming of a 23-10 win over Burke County while Coffee defeated Salem 64-8. Coffee won last years game in Douglas 21-14, but Ware has won three of the last five. Coffee Coach Robby Pruitt is 4-3 against the Gators and has a 351-83 record in 36 years as a head coach. Coach Jason Strickland is 100-40-1 as a head coach.
