The Ware County Rifle Team will travel to Ft. Benning, Georgia on Friday to get ready to compete for the GHSA Rifle State Championship. Not only will the team compete for a State title, but a total of 9 Ware County Shooters have qualified for the State Competition by recording a round of 290 or better during the season.
The team is led by Senior Kimberlee Nettles who is making her fourth consecutive trip to Championship Saturday. Kimberlee has verbally committed to shoot for North Georgia College next year on a rifle scholarship. Other members of the team who have qualified for the State Championship are Ashton Newland, Courtney Harris, Ben Smith, Tyler Hanson, Tori Moseley, Bryce Young, Jonathan King and Rayne Riggins.
This is an exciting time for the team and families who will make the trip to Columbus. The rifle team will pull out at 8:00am in the morning are hoping to bring the home the first state rifle title since 1997. We wish the coaches and shooters the best of luck.
