The Ware County Rifle Team won it's third consecutive GHSA State Title on Saturday defeating all competition. Laci Jewell led the way by finishing with a near perfect 298/300. She set a single state record of 298 eclipsing the old mark by 2 shots. She also won the individual shoot-off for the second year in a row setting while also setting a new state record of 401.
The championship was one of the closest ever as Ware edged East Coweta by one shot to collect their fourth State Title and third in a row. Laci Jewell led Ware with a 298 while Ben Smith fired a 291, Tyler Hanson 288, Cole Howard 285, Jacob Hatcher 285 and Bryce Young shot a 284.
The Gators were the only school who had 6 shooters who met the minimum score to participate in the State Championships. The most amazing thing about the championship is the fact that the state championships comprises ALL classifications which makes the title even sweeter.
