Coach Maurice England begins his 17th year as coach of the Ware Co. Rifle Team. He was born on December 25, 1938 in Belington, WV. He graduated from Belington High School in 1956, and then attended Potomac State College in Keyser, WV. Enlisted in the Army in 1959 and was stationed at West Point Academy, Korea, and then Fort Stewart, GA. 

He worked for ITT Rayonier for 36 years. After he retired from the Forestry Division in 1999 he was hired by the Ware County BOE to work with the JROTC program, which he help bring to Ware County. 

He started the Ware County 4-H B.B Team in 1984 then going to 22 rifle & shotguns. In 1993 he began working with the JROTC program, as their rifle coach, then combining the JROTC team into Ware County Rifle Team for all students, not just for JROTC cadets. He is a level 2 coach in NRA, CMP, USA  Coaching and youth developments.

He has led the Ware County Rifle Team to many National, State and Regions wins during his coaching years.   Numerous other awards received included being inducted into Sports Hall of Fame, The Golden Deeds Award, Ware County High Coach of the Year in 1997; and he was picked to coach the NRA-Georgia team in a nationwide competition.
He is married to Louise Blocker and they are the proud parents of Renee Vickers, Bill England, Vickie Carter & Patricia Griffin, including 6 grandkids & 6 great grandkids
