Things are looking great for the Lady Gators Softball program. Numbers are up with participation and that is always a good thing. The Lady Gators have been working all summer by practicing, playing games, and attending FCA team camp. "We have a lot of talent out here this year", says Coach Rebecca Kirkland. The Varsity lost 2 seniors last year. This year varsity will have 3 seniors leaving the remainder of the team mostly Juniors and Sophomores, with a few Freshman getting some experience at that level. "Having everyone back, for the exception of the seniors we lost, is a plus. I am hoping the rebuilding from last year will carry over to a successful season this year.", says Kirkland. The number of freshmen that came out this year has been the largest in quite some time.
The JV season looks promising also with some talent from last year as well as the talent that has been fed into the program from our middle schools. The Varsity and JV will open up this Tuesday on the road against Tift County. Then they will travel to Pierce on Thursday. Ware's first home game will be against Pierce County on Tuesday, August 14th with JV starting at 4:30 and Varsity at 6:00.
