Lady Gators Split with South Effingham Forcing Game 3 Today at 5:00


Ware County Gators Varsity Takes Victory Over South Effingham In A High-Scoring Affair


There were runs aplenty on Wednesday, as Ware County defeated South Effingham 15-10.

The Lady Gators opened up scoring in the first inning. Savannah Jeffers singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

South Effingham scored four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by South Effingham was led by Chloe Turner and Mattie Turner, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Erin Meeks led the Lady Gators to victory on the rubber. She went four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking one. Avian Trull and Cullee Peavey entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Harley Pinette took the loss for South Effingham. She went one-third of an inning, allowing five runs on four hits and walking one.

Ware tallied 20 hits. TrullJeffersSierra TaylorAdrian HarrisMeeksD'Yonne McClain, and Grace Milton all managed multiple hits for Ware. HarrisTaylorJeffers, and Trull each collected three hits to lead Ware.

South Effingham totaled 12 hits. C StoneAlex Brown, and Chloe Strickland each collected multiple hits for South Effingham. Stone went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead South Effingham in hits.

Late Score Costs Ware County Against South Effingham


Wednesday's game against South Effingham was a heartbreaker for the Lady Gators, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat. South Effingham trailed 4-1 in the top of the sixth inning when C Stone homered on a 1-1 count, scoring four runs.

Ware lost despite out-hitting South Effingham eight to seven.

Harley Pinette led the South Effingham to victory in the circle. She allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, walking one. Hailey Maruca threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Avian Trull took the loss for Ware. She surrendered six runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out six.

Haylee Johnson started the game for South Effingham. She lasted four innings, allowing five hits and four runs

Adrian Harris went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Ware in hits.

South Effingham totaled seven hits. Ashleigh Woods and Alex Brown all managed multiple hits for South Effingham.
