Coach Rebecca Kirkland begins her 10th year as head softball Coach at Ware County High School. She is born and raised in Waycross, GA. She attended Ware County High School and received a softball scholarship to South Georgia College where she played her first two years. She then transferred toValdosta State University and graduated with a bachelor degree in Health and Physical Education. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Foundation of Education from Troy University and aSpecialist Degree in Coaching Pedagogy from Valdosta State University.
This year makes Coach Kirkland’s 11th year teaching. She taught her first year at Valdosta Middle School. She was the assistant varsity, head JV coach for softball at Valdosta High School. She currently teaches Physical Education at Memorial Drive Elementary School. She has led the Gators to multiple state playoffs including the sweet 16 in 2010 & 2013. The Lady Gators also held the title of sub-region champs in 2010. She recieved her 100th win in her 2013 softball season as well. Coach Kirkland has also had the opportunity to coach in the Georgia Dugout Club’s All-star game in 2011 & the GACA North-South Allstar game in 2014.
Coach Kirkland is married to Bill Kirkland and they have two children, Teriayn (3 years old) and Reid (7 years old). She is actively involved in Kettle Creek Church in Waycross.
