The WCHS Gator Swim Team hosted their first home meet this past weekend at the local YMCA. Thirteen teams traveled from around Georgia to compete in the first Gator Invitational Swim Meet. The boys' team placed second with the girls' team coming in fifth place with a combined overall third place finish. Mary Rylie Davis swam a personal best in the 100 yd. Butterfly with a 1:06.84, a first place finish in this event, and a new team record. Imani Johnson swam her first ever 500 yd. Freestyle event and finished strong coming in 5th place. Kendall Moore swam a personal best in the 50 yd. Freestyle (31.92). Kate Good swam a personal best in the 100 yd. Backstroke ((1:28.48). Spencer Hoyt qualified in his second individual state event (100 yd. butterfly) with a time of 57.81 and set a new team record in this event. The highlight of the meet was when our boys 200 yd. Freestyle relay team qualified for the GHSA state swim meet with a time of 1:39.66. Congratulations to Brantley Good, Hunter Hooks, Joe Robertson, and Spencer Hoyt! These four young men have certainly earned the swimmers of the meet for this week.
