Tennis Teams Drop Pair to Appling

The Ware County Lady Gator tennis team dropped a close non-region match today against Appling County by a score of 2-3.

Libby Hughes played a stellar match at first singles, knocking off Trinity Upchurch in the third set tiebreak 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.  Maggie Tyre played her best tennis of the season, dominating Maggie Carter in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.  Kennedy Brice battled all match, but came up short against Lexi Hughes 0-6, 0-6.

In doubles action, Delaney Hendricks and Sophia Choudhri couldn't get it going today, dropping their match against Aubree Swain and Caroline Rentz 1-6, 0-6.  Finally, Ralicia Green and Avien Trull played their first match together, coming up short after battling back in the second set 0-6, 4-6.

All in all, I'm happy with the progress the girls are showing.  We battled on all five courts today, we just have a little more work to do to get where we want to be.  Our match on Thursday, against Tattnall, has been cancelled, so we will not play again until next Thursday, at home, against region foe Statesboro.

This young team is getting better, and region play is approaching quickly. The Tattnall County match has been cancelled for Thursday, and there is no plan for rescheduling at the moment.
