Lady Gators Split With Statesboro and South Effingham

The Ware County Lady Gators wrapped full week of basketball this weeked with a trip to Statesboro on Friday and returned home on Saturday to host South Effingham. Justyce Eason led the Lady Gators with 14 points against Statesboro while Mataea Boyd added 11. Shoveir Spaulding had eight points, DeMya Gibson 4 points and Korianne Yawn had two points but the Lady Gators fell to Blue Devils 47-49.

In JV Girls action early, the Lady Gators fell to Statesboro 34-11. Saniyah Patterson led Ware with 4 points followed by Trinity Stephens, Madelyn Musgrove and Zamaria Denton with 2 points each and Quaisha Barnes added 1 point.

The Lady Gators rebound on Saturday night sweeping the Lady Mustangs from South Effingham 65-40. The Lady Gators pulled out to a 20-4 first quarter lead kept their foot on the gas as they soared to a 25 point region victory. Three Lady Gators had double figures as Seniors Justyce Eason (17 points), Shouveir Spaulding (16 points) and Mataea Boyd (14 points) led Ware County. Other scorers were Latreano Holmes (7 points), DeMya Gibson (6 points), Madelyn Musgrove (2 points), Koriane Yawn (2 points) and Ronasche Fluker (1 point)

The Lady Gators travel to Pooler on Tuesday to play New Hampstead at 6:00 pm

JV Results: Lady Gators 41  South Effingham  16

The Lady Gator JV team started the sweep Saturday afternoon with a 41-16 rout of the Lady Mustangs and set the tone for the rest of the day. Nine Lady Gators scored in the game. Ronasche Fluker (8), Zamaria Denton (8), Quasha Barnes (6), Idaja Davis (5), Madelyn Musgrove (5), Kiara Stephens (3), Trinity Stephens (2), Grace Milton (2) and Nessa Nelson (2).
