Lady Gators Force Three Way Tie for First Place with Victory over Statesboro 49-47

The Ware County Lady Gators traded punches with the top ranked Lady Blue Devils last night in the Swamp to force a three way tie for first place in Region 2AAAAA. Ware and Statesboro were tied after the first (12-12), second (24-24) and thrird (34-34) periods when Senior Mataea Boyd drained a free throw with 2.1 seconds to go to seal the victory for the Lady Gators.

Senior Justyce Eason was red hot from the free throw line all night scoring 19 points to lead all scorers. Mataea Boyd and DeMya Gibson both had double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively. Latreona Holmes added 5 while Shouveir Spaulding added 2 points.

The Lady Gators will host Pierce County tonight in a non-region contest at 6:00 pm. Please come out and support the Lady Gators.

 

 JV Girls Results:  Statesboro 37  Ware  25

The JV Lady Gators struggled scoring early and was unable to mount a comeback dropping the opening game 37-25 to Statesboro. Ronasche Fluker led the Lady Gators with 10 points followed by I'daja Davis with 8, Grace Milton with 4 points and Quashia Barnes added 3 points. The Lady Gators  will host Pierce County tonight at 3:00.
