This week, the Lady Gators hosted their 1st Lady Gators Volleyball Camp. The camp allowed the girls 4 days of instruction in the core fundamentals of volleyball. About 30 girls attended the camp. Each girl was teamed up with a Lady Gator player in order to receive small group instruction. The Lady Gators taught the girls individual skills such as passing, serving, defense, ball control, and the 3-step hitting approach. "I would like to thank all the Lady Gators that attended all four days of camp," said Coach Alesia Gibson. "These young ladies worked really hard teaching the skills of volleyball. Furthermore, I would like to thank the parents for allowing their young ladies to attend the camp." Several parent expressed gratitude for all the fun and skills that their daughters learned this week. "My daughter Grace had a blast, and she loved every minute of the camp," said Pricilla Christopher. We, (the coach, players, parents, and campers) all developed new friendships that would hopefully carry on for years to come. Not only did the girls learn some volleyball skills, but learned teamwork and sportsmanship as well. Each camper received an evaluation rubric of their progress for the week. The last day of camp was filled with a day of competitive games. The girls played beach volleyball and had a serving contest. Each young lady received a camp T-shirt and enjoyed a pizza party.
The following girls attended the camp.
