Lady Gators Spike Tifton and Toombs

The Lady Gator Volleyball Team had a great night at home while playing host to the Lady Devils of Tift County and the Bulldogs of Toombs County. In the first match, the Lady Gators started out strong and dominated the first games by a score of 25-15. However, the Lady Devils would battle back and take game 2 the score of 25-21. Despite of the great effort from both teams, the Lady Gators would barely win the third game by a margin of 25-23. In the second match, the Lady Gators defeated the Lady Bulldogs in two straight games to win the match. "As a team, we struggles with our coverage while in our rotation. Hopefully, we will be able to clean up our mishaps during practice," said Coach Alesia Gibson. On Saturday, the Lady Gators with travel to Valdosta to play in the first Valdosta High School Volleyball Play Date Tournament. The tournament will be held at · Newbern Middle School New Gym. The Lady Gators will play their first game at 8:50am.

JV Lady Gator Split Games

 

On the JV side, the Lady Gators would split their matches. In the first game, the Lady Gators lost against the Lady Devils of Tift County High School by a score of 25-20 and 25-18. The Lady Gators would go on and win their second match against the Lady Bulldogs of Toombs County High School. "We will not be playing or traveling with varsity next week. So we are planning to practice hard to clean up several mistakes that we need to improve on as a team, said Coach Chari Malone.

On a side note, the JV Lady Gators hosted the Waycross Middle Lady Bulldogs for a friendly inner city scrimmage. "Overall, I think the girls played well," said Head Coach Erin Harvey. "I saw several good things, and many things we need to work on as a team. I'm just thankful to Coach Gibson for allowing the girls to have the opportunity to play against real players, with real fans, and real referees. This allowed us to have a real game environment before we play our first game" The Lady Bulldogs will open up their season on August 31st. They will be traveling over to compete against Valdosta Middle School.
