Senior Night successful with two wins!!!

The Gator Den was filled with family, friends, and fans as the Lady Gators honored their seniors. The Lady Wildcats of Valdosta High School and the Lady Trojans of Brooks County High School invaded "the Swamp" for a playdate. Not only did the Lady Gators take care of business off the court, they took care of business on the court. The Lady Gators defeated both teams in two straight games in order to win both matches. In the first match, the Lady Gators defeated the Lady Trojans by the scores of 25-9 and 25-3. In the second game of this match, Sutton Rollins, a senior, served for 19 straight points. In the second match, the Lady Gators followed up with two straight wins against the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Gators overpowered the Lady Cats in two games by the scores of 25-23 and 25-13. "Overall, I felt the girls played a lot better and cleaned up several mistakes that were made in the last couple of matches," said Coach Alesia Gibson. The Lady Gators will travel over to South Effingham High School on Thursday, for a region matchup.

On the JV side, the Lady Gators lost against the Lady Wildcats. In the first game, the Lady outscored the Lady Gators by a score of 25 -14. In the second game, the Lady Gators lost by a three point margin, 25–22. As a team, we played better in the second game, but was unablr to overcome several crucial mistakes," said Coach Chari Malone. The JV will travel over to Wayne County on Thursday for their next match.

The Ware County Middle Lady Gators and the Waycross Middle Lady Dawgs were feathered in a nightcap. Both teams played well, but the Lady Dawgs would edge out the Lady Gators by the scores of 26-24 and 25-19. "We, (the coaches) are grateful to the middle school coaches and AD's for their hard work and dedication to our middle school program."

On a note, all teams wore a gold ribbon in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness. The theme expressed for the night, was Volleying and Digging for a Cure. The Lady Gators offered motivation bracelets for a donation of $1.00. We will continue Volleying for a Cure on September 14th, which will be our last home game of the season. So please come out and support this cause. All proceeds will be donated the Mattie's Mission.
