Ware Takes Top Ranked Tift to the Wire

The Ware County Gators took top ranked Tift County down to the wire Friday but lost a heartbreaker 42-38. The Gators played incredible defense holding he Blue Devils to just 14 points in the first half. Ware took a 9-7 first quarter lead and extended it to 26-14 in the first half and led 30-27 at the end of the third. Tied with 40 seconds left in the fourth, the Blue Devils turned two turnovers into points to hold off the Gators.

Zac Swinson nailed 4 three pointers to lead Ware with 12 points, followed by Byron McKelvin with 8, Cam Brown with 6, Ja'mon Holmes and Jaylin Melvin with 4 points, and Dominick Williams and Jolyn James with 2 points each. The Gators will travel to Pierce County tomorrow at 7:30.

Rhaquez Jenkins led Ware with 8 points followed by Noah Hooks with 6, Jacuan Taylor, Jahmon Taylor, Josiah Davis, London McKelvin and Adam Glass with 2 points each and Cartevious Norton and JJ Goodman with 1 point each.

 

9th Grade Results:

Ware defeated Glynn Academy 38-30. Brandon Washington led Ware with 13 points followed by Mikell Moody with 11, Dezandre' Johnson 9 and Davis Hereford with 5 points. The 9th grade team will travel to take on Wayne County at 4:30.
