The Lady Gators Competing Well at the Packer Bash

The Lady Gators are participating in the Packer Bash at Colquitt County HS. This tournament consisted of ten teams playing a round robin for three days. The high schools competing are; Ware County HS, Americus-Sumter HS, Valdosta HS, Thomas County Central HS, Thomasville HS, Brooks County HS, Tiff County HS, Lowndes County HS, Amos P. Godby HS (Tallahassee, FL), and the host team, Colquitt County HS.  The Lady Gators have been on a roll for the past couple of days.

On Monday, the Lady Gators would finish the day with a record of 3-0. The lady Gators would sweep all three teams in straight sets. In the first match, the Lady Gators defeated the Lady Panthers of Americus-Sumter. In the second match, the Gators would defeated the Lady Jackets of Thomas County Central and go on to prevail over the Lady Bulldogs of Brooks County HS.

On Tuesday, the Lady Gators would continue their winning streak by defeating the Colquitt County Lady Packers in straight sets. However, in the second match, the Lady Gators and the Lady Vikings would end in a draw. "This was a hard fought match with both teams winning one games each," said Coach Gibson.  A third game was played, but ended in a tie (10-10) due to a game time limit that was set for one hour. In the final match of the day, the Lady Gators would play the Lady Panthers of Americus-Sumter for a second time. The Gators would prevail over the Lady Panthers in two straight sets. At the end of the second day, the Lady Gators would finish with a record of 2-0-1. "Overall, I am proud of how these girls are playing, fighting, and hustling for every point," said Head Coach Alesia Gibson. "This tournament has been good for us. It has allowed us the see some of our strengths and weaknesses before our season starts." Later today, the Gators will play four straight matches to end tournament play.
